Colonia-based company to provide passenger transport services.
Berrutti, a company with a long-standing history in Colonia`s transport sector, was awarded a bid to provide passenger transport services for the duration of the construction of the Montes del Plata pulp mill.
The company will provide daily bus transport for operations personnel to and the Punta Pereira site. Each unit will travel an average of 140 km per day and has the capacity to carry 44 seated passengers. During peak construction and assembly periods, the transport company will be running over 80 buses daily. The centralized service guarantees equal opportunities for all employees working at outsourced and contracted companies performing work at the site while minimizing the number of vehicles operating along Colonia highways.
Transport services will be provided in accordance with Montes del Plata`s high safety and comfort requirements. Services will have Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) and Intendancy of Colonia permits and the fleet will be subject to monthly reviews and technical inspections by Montes del Plata.
All buses will be outfitted with safety belts, first aid kits, fire extinguishers and reverse gear audible warnings. Furthermore, Montes del Plata will train the buses` professional drivers in a Defensive Driving Course.
Berrutti will be responsible for managing the entire transportation service, and may hire other companies to carry out the contract. As such, Montes del Plata and Berrutti agreed to prioritize the area`s personnel and companies.
The bidding process began on 16 March through an extensive call for Colonia`s transport companies, as well as national and regional companies.
We are pleased to see that once again, Colonia-based companies can genuinely compete against national and international companies, both in terms of quality of service, as well as costs, stated Carolina Moreira, Montes del Plata Communications Manager.
