Montes del Plata to build and donate homes in Carmelo
Montes del Plata to build and donate homes in Carmelo
On March 13, Montes del Plata and the Ministry of Housing (MVOTMA) signed an agreement to donate 30 houses to be built in the city of Carmelo. The new housing complex will be constructed alongside the current mill workers` Housing Centre and will be managed by MVOTMA´s National Housing Bureau who will use it for social purposes. The houses will be built using the same construction system used in the city of Colonia, where 150 homes were built to host a neighbourhood to house 900 people. Concrete injection into aluminium moulding technology will be used to ensure quality, durability and rapid construction times. The comfortable and functional house design will consist of two to three bedrooms, two baths and an open living room-dining room area.
The project entails a USD 1,320,000 investment that will be solely undertaken by Montes del Plata. Construction will last six months.
In this manner, Montes del Plata is solidifying the housing and social commitment taken on with the national government. This commitment also includes the 150 houses already built in Colonia that will be handed over to the government of Colonia for the same purposes. Furthermore, the Carmelo Housing Centre, which lodges nearly 1,800 Montes del Plata project workers, will also be transferred to departmental officials to be used for social purposes. The complex consists of a Social Centre, a mini-market, a large kitchen, training rooms and two football fields, one of which features lighting for night-time matches.
