Montes del Plata to finance water and sewage works for Colonia and Conchillas
On 23 May, Montes del Plata signed an agreement with state water company OSE to build an effluent treatment plant for the city of Colonia and a sewage treatment plant in Conchillas and to supply industrial water and also to set up a potable water filtering plant to supply towns near the industrial complex.
The works will be carried out by OSE and Montes del Plata will provide up to USD 6.5 million in funding and materials. The company will also finance the required engineering projects for these works.
OSE will manage construction and will the construction company to carry out these works. The state water company will also be responsible for purchasing land for the plants, obtaining the necessary permits and carrying out all material and legal actions required for the development of the works.
These projects will lead to a significant improvement in quality of life of nearby residents and will likewise improve the water quality of the La Plata River by improving the conditions of Colonia`s urban effluent.
In Conchillas, the sewage treatment plant will solve problems created by the closing of the local waste disposal site and will provide high-quality drinking water area for area residents. To this effect, Montes del Plata will set up an industrial water filtering plant in accordance with OSE standards and indications. The water will be treated to achieve drinking water standards and will supply the towns of Puerto Inglés, Conchillas, Pueblo Gil and Radial Hernández.
