Electric interconnection agreement signed between UTE and the Conchillas mill.

Montes del Plata to provide grid with sufficient power for 200,000 homes.
UTE and Montes del Plata signed on June 23 an agreement to start interconnection work between the pulp mill currently under construction and the national power grid.

This will enable Montes del Plata to supply the national grid with its significant amount of surplus power. The energy created by the company is clean, comes renewable sources and will lead to a decrease in the country`s dependency on fossil fuels, thus diversifying the national energy matrix while providing a boost to national development.
The works necessary for the integration of the power plant into the national system will be provided by a third party company to be ed by Montes del Plata through a bidding process, which is currently in its final stages. UTE will be responsible for supervision and ensuring that the work is performed correctly. The entire process will be financed by Montes del Plata. Montes del Plata`s power plant will generate approximately 160 MW of clean and renewable energy, of which 90 MW will be used by the company itself.
The remaining 55 to 75 MW of power will be transferred to the national grid, thereby fortifying supply and contributing to the diversification of the national energy matrix while reducing fossil fuel dependency. This is the equivalent to the average consumption of about 200,000 homes. The connection entails laying 31 kilometers of 150 kV high tension line the site`s entrance to UTE`s Colonia del Sacramento substation located outside the city on Route 21.
UTE experts designed and plotted the line. The project also includes the construction of an outbound power substation, outside the site of the future mill and improvements to the Colonia substation to enable a connection to the new line. Work should be completed during the third quarter of 2012.
