Montes del Plata donates housing infrastructure to Plan Juntos

29 April 2014.  Montes del Plata donated its Housing Centre infrastructure built alongside its cellulose pulp mill near Conchillas to the Executive Branch`s Plan Juntos programme.

The donation included 544 fully equipped sleeping modules, 68 restroom modules and 68 shower modules in perfect conditions.  Additionally, the items used in the workers´ housing centre were also donated, including: over 1,000 sets of wooden twin-size beds, mattresses, nightstands, closets, more than 500 air conditioning units and small refrigerators and nearly 200 gas-powered water heaters.

The Punta Pereira Housing Centre served 1,088 workers and was one of the three housing solutions set up by Montes del Plata to accommodate the thousands of persons who worked in the construction of its pulp mill. Two other centres were located in the cities of Colonia del Sacramento and Carmelo.

Once they were no longer needed following the construction phase, Montes del Plata found that the Plan Juntos was the ideal social destination for the infrastructure and related items, with minor modifications,

Plan Juntos will also receive various gym sets, recreational items and laundry facilities that were part of the centre.

The donation, valued at USD 3,840,000, includes fire hydrants and potable water components that supply the buildings.
