"Yo Sigo" Grows and Reaches New Students in Guichón

In 2026 we are supporting 278 students from Guichón, Ombúes de Lavalle, and Conchillas with vocational guidance workshops and activities that promote educational continuity.

At Montes del Plata we continue driving "Yo Sigo", our program that seeks to promote the educational continuity of young people in the communities where we operate. In 2026, we incorporated the UTU of Guichón, in Paysandú, and continue working alongside the high schools of Ombúes de Lavalle and Conchillas, in Colonia.

The first activity of the year took place at the UTU of Guichón, with the launch of the vocational guidance workshop series "Orientando Orientales". It was followed by the program at the Liceo of Ombúes de Lavalle and the Liceo of Conchillas.

"Orientando Orientales" is one of the central components of "Yo Sigo" and we have been implementing it together with the Centro Di Mauro Davrieux, in Colonia, since 2014. Starting this year, we are extending the initiative to Guichón, broadening its territorial reach and continuing the work we have been carrying out with that institution since 2025.

Through these workshops we aim to support students in making decisions about their educational future and to strengthen their motivation to continue studying. To that end, collaborators from different areas of Montes del Plata share their vocational and professional experiences with the teenagers, offering concrete references about different educational paths, trades, and professions.

This edition involves 278 students. At the UTU of Guichón, the activity reaches 53 ninth-grade students. At the Liceo of Ombúes de Lavalle, participants include students from ninth grade, first year, and third year of Upper Secondary Education. At the Liceo of Conchillas, the second year of Upper Secondary Education group also joins these levels.

A Program That Makes an Impact

As part of the monitoring of "Yo Sigo," in 2020 we commissioned consulting firm Indaga to conduct a study evaluating the program's effectiveness. The results showed that 95.7% of participants reached the Baccalaureate level or higher, compared to 60.4% among those who did not participate.

The study also found that participation in the program is associated with a 58.4% increase in educational levels attained and a 37% increase in access to tertiary education.

Differences in educational dropout rates were also observed: among program participants, the dropout rate at the Baccalaureate level was 16.7%, while among non-participants it reached 42.3%.

More Experiences to Keep Learning

"Yo Sigo" also includes other initiatives aimed at bringing young people closer to the world of work and education. These include visits by sixth-grade students from Conchillas to our plant, where they learn about the work of professionals from different sectors, as well as tours of tertiary education centers of interest to participants.

With each of these initiatives we seek to support young people, expand their opportunities, and contribute to their ability to envision and build their future through education.
